The Memphis Belle B-17 91st BG 324th BS Serial 41-24485
The first B-17 to complete 25 missions in the 91st BG. During its service, it accounted for 8 enemy planes shot down, 5 probables and damage to 12 others.
"In proud and grateful memory of those men of the United States Air Force who from these friendly Isles flew their final flight and met their God. They knew not the hour, the day, nor the manner of their passing when far from home they were called to join that heroic band of airmen who had gone before. May they rest in peace"
Inscribed in the ceiling of the Chapel in the American cemetery in Cambridge, England.
